A young Gold Coast woman has been charged after she allegedly assaulted a bus driver and an elderly woman.
The 22-year-old was confronted after refusing to pay her fare after boarding a bus on The Esplanade in Paradise Point on Friday afternoon.
Police say the woman spat on the 51-year-old driver before punching him in the face and arms.

When an 85-year-old woman, also from Paradise Point, tried to intervene, she too was allegedly assaulted.
The driver removed the woman from the bus, and other members of the public "assisted in holding her" until police arrived.
The woman from Hollywell has been charged with one count each of serious assault (person over 60), assaults occasioning bodily harm, and fare evasion.
She was granted bail and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court next month.
