Young girl pulled from Sydney pool unconscious in 'near drowning'

A young girl has been pulled unconscious from a swimming pool in Sydney's west in what paramedics have described as a "near drowning".

Lifeguards at Merrylands Swim Centre pulled the girl, believed to be aged four, from the water and performed CPR as paramedics rushed to the scene.

9News understands the girl is now conscious and breathing.

NSW Paramedics said more information would be released shortly.

Cumberland City Council runs the pool. The council have been contacted for comment.
