Wild video shows car repeatedly crashing near Sydney pedestrians

NSW Police have chased down an allegedly stolen car before it crashed twice, which forced locals to run out of the way before helping arrest the driver in Sydney's west this afternoon.

Officers approached a man as he got into an allegedly stolen Alfa Romeo on Kylie Parade in Punchbowl but he ignored police, sparking a chase about midday today.

"Officers initiated a pursuit which was terminated due to the manner of driving," NSW Police said in a statement.

The car then allegedly crashed into a black Mercedes on Payten Avenue in Roselands but kept going. 

Footage shows the car repeatedly crashing into a fence on Vanessa Street at Kingsgrove.

"Members of the public detained the driver while police were alerted," NSW Police said.

NSW Police chased down an allegedly stolen car before it crashed twice, which forced armed locals to run out of the way, in Sydney's west this afternoon.

"Officers from St George Police Area Command attended and arrested a 25-year-old man."

A BB air pistol was allegedly found by officers in his pants.

He is expected to be charged by police tonight.
