Police were left "shaking their heads" after watching eight teens pile out of a stolen Honda Jazz early this morning.

Police first noticed the car early this morning in Endeavor Hills, south-east of Melbourne, when a routine check at 3.15am revealed the car to be stolen.

Officers called for a helicopter, which was able to track down the car across two suburbs. Stop sticks were deployed, taking out a couple of the car's tyres, but the car continued to drive with damaged wheels.

As it entered Hallam, the vehicle started to slow, enabling police, including the Public Order Response Team and both local uniform and plain clothed units to move in.

One teen allegedly ran from the scene into a nearby field and jumped a fence to try and escape.

They were later arrested by the Dog Squad.

Seven others were arrested in the vicinity of the dumped stolen car. They comprised of two males and six females, ranging in ages from 14-18.

All are assisting police with their enquiries.
