Teenage boy dead after stabbing in northern NSW

A teenage boy is dead following a stabbing in New South Wales' Northern Rivers region this morning.

Emergency services were called to a home on McDougall Street, Casino, after reports of a stabbing at about 1.20am.

A boy at the home was found with stab wounds. He was treated by police and paramedics, but died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be aged 17.

Initial inquiries suggest the stabbing was targeted, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
