Snake found among handbags at charity shop

You never know what you might unearth in a charity shop but bargain-hunters in Brisbane had an unusual find when they spotted a python in the handbag section.

The slithery discovery was unearthed at the shop in Capalaba in Redland, east of Brisbane, last week.

Shoppers and staff can be seen gathering around in a video posted on TikTok by @youknowtheguy.

It shows a man carefully taking the creature from a shelf where it was snuggled next to handbags for sale.

"Casually thrift shopping with Mum in Capalaba, next thing we know a lady is screaming and running away from the handbag section," the poster wrote.

"Turns out a cute little carpet python had made its way into the store… most likely inside dropped off goods!

"Appeared to be exceptionally friendly which had me immediately believing this is a pet, does anybody know of someone who has misplaced their beloved python recently?"

The shop is searching for the owner of the carpet python.

It doesn't have a microchip and for now, it has been named Thrift.
