Referendums will be ‘shut down’ if govt doesn’t focus on ‘bread-and-butter issues’

News Corp Columnist David Penberthy says the government should be focused on cost-of-living instead of focusing on whether Australia should become a republic.

“At a time when people are paying 12 bucks for a lettuce, do you really think that the Australian people are up for not one, but two debates about referenda,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“That will very easily be shut down if it looks like the government isn’t focused on bread-and-butter issues.”
