Police release CCTV after alleged attempted sexual assault in Sydney

A woman has allegedly avoided being sexually assaulted by a man on a street in Sydney's eastern suburbs in the early hours of Friday.

The woman was on Mitchell Street in Bondi at about 3.40am yesterday when she was approached by a man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.

A strike force has been established to investigate the incident.

"As inquiries continue, police have released CCTV and a description of a man who may be able to assist with the investigation," NSW Police said in a statement.

"He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 30 years old, approximately 175cm tall, of muscular build, with dark hair, dark eyes and a short beard.

"The man was wearing denim shorts and a white short-sleeved polo shirt."
