Two men used a laundry basket to steal a large quantity of alcohol from a bottle shop in regional Victoria over the weekend.

Police say a stolen black 2004 Ford Territory reversed into the front of a store on Albert Street at Sebastopol, near Ballarat, about 3.25am on Sunday.

CCTV captured the men entering the store and using the basket to steal the alcohol before fleeing the scene.

Police said the men fled in the Territory, which was missing the bonnet and rear passenger door.

The car also had smashed windows and a wooden garden trellis affixed to the front passenger window, police say.

Investigators believe the same vehicle was set alight in Ross Creek early yesterday morning.

Police say the car was originally stolen from Sutton Street in Delacombe on April 21.
