Melbourne couple on school run told they'd won $20 million

A couple has found out they won $20 million while on the school run – but still went to work.

The lucky pair from Cairnlea in Melbourne got the call from Oz Lotto officials while going about their morning.

The man said it was too soon to say what they'll do now they're multi-millionaires – and he still had to go to work.

"We can't comprehend the win yet, so it's hard to know what we will do," he said.

"There's no doubt that it will go to something great.

"There won't be much celebrating today because I'm still going to work.

"It will be hard to concentrate."

The couple held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1516, drawn Tuesday, 7 March 2023 and took home a total prize of $20,000,000.

They bought the ticket at Cairnlea News & Lotto in the city's north west.

Owner Kevin Thai said the shop has proved lucky for many.

"It has been almost two years since we sold a division one winning ticket and we have been waiting patiently for the next winner ever since," he said.

"I believe we've had over 10 or more division one winners and a few syndicates since the store opened over 12 years ago."
