Man shot dead by police in Sydney after allegedly threatening officers with knives

A man has been shot dead by police after allegedly threatening officers with knives.

Two police officers responded to a call about residents being threatened in North Willoughby about 11.30am today and were allegedly confronted by a man with two knives.

A constable shot the man and he died at the scene, NSW Police said in a statement.

No other injuries have been reported but there is a heavy police presence at the scene.

The shooting will be investigated by the homicide squad.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
