A man has been arrested after allegedly driving at speeds up to 180km/h and using an emergency lane to overtake cars in Melbourne's west.
The Victoria Police Airwing first spotted the red hatchback driving east on the Western Freeway in Deanside about 1.45pm on Friday.
Police alleged the unlicenced driver was driving at speeds up to 180km/h and "dangerously overtaking" cars in the emergency lane.

"Numerous triple zero (000) calls were received from concerned members of the public as Air Wing continued to follow the vehicle to Ballarat Road at speeds of up to 130km/hr," Victoria Police said in a statement.
The 41-year-old driver was caught by police at Sunshine at the intersection of Duke Street and Ballarat Road.
"The man was arrested and has been charged with numerous speeding and traffic offences including reckless conduct endangering life."
The Melton South man is behind bars and will appear before a Melbourne Magistrates' Court at a later date.
