Man attacked by dogs that escaped Sydney home

A man has been hospitalised after he was attacked by two dogs that escaped a home in Sydney's west.

NSW Police said a man in his 50s was treated by paramedics in Leppington after he was attacked by dogs on Monday morning.

He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

"Two dogs have been seized by council rangers who will commence an investigation into the incident," police said in a statement.

9News understands the dogs were two Rottweilers.

A Camden Council spokesperson said rangers attended the scene where the man was attacked by two dogs that had escaped from a private property.

"Following a decision made by the dogs' owner, the dogs have been euthanised," the spokesperson said.

"Council had not received any prior enquiries on the dogs."
