Labor: No clarity from National Cabinet

The second emergency meeting of National Cabinet in as many weeks is now underway with an aim to get the states and territories on the same page when it comes to isolation and testing rules.

Before the meeting began Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese criticised the outcome of the previous meeting.

“What we had at the last National Cabinet meeting was not much,” he said.

“We didn’t get national leadership arising out of it. We certainly didn’t get clarity and we haven’t had clarity since.”

Thursday’s meeting will seek to establish a national close contact definition, discuss the role of PCR and rapid antigen tests, introduce uniform testing requirements and address test supply concerns.
