Hero boy escapes crash wreckage and gets help for seriously injured driver

A little boy who was caught up in a late-night crash in regional Victoria managed to climb out of an upturned ute and run to get help for the seriously injured driver.

The seven-year-old Sunbury boy was a passenger in a Ford Falcon utility that was travelling on Sandy Creek Road near the intersection of Forest Road in Little River when it left the road and rolled about 11pm yesterday.

The boy climbed out of the wreck and run to a nearby home to get help for the driver, a 41-year-old Sunbury man.

The driver managed to get himself out of the ute before he was airlifted to hospital with a serious injury.

The boy was left with minor injuries and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Police are investigating the crash.
