Five-day tests scrapped immediately

The government has made the decision to scrap the test, effective immediately, after data showed that just 0.6 per cent of cases were coming from the tests. Initially, anyone who was returning from a Covid-19 hotspot interstate was required to get a test five days after they return. More to come. INITIAL: PEOPLE at the James Cook University testing site are facing a nine-hour wait with reports people are already being turned away. Yesterday, the 1300SMILES facility had to close the gates at 3pm in order to get through the backlog. The JCU facility was opened to help deal with the testing demand.
