"Allow plenty of extra travel time due to a train communication issue," a statement on the TripView app says.
"Trains may stop on platforms or between stations for longer than normal while the issue is ongoing. We'll update you when we have more information."
Large crowds of commuters have been filmed waiting on platforms at stations across the city on the third-straight day of 30-degree temperatures.
In addition to the delays on the train network, disruptions are also impacting other transport services, with one 9News.com.au reporter on his way home describing bus stops as "absolute chaos".
