Elderly woman, 95, Tasered at NSW aged care home after wielding knife

An elderly woman is in a critical condition after she was Tasered by police at an aged care home in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains.

Officers were called to the nursing home in Cooma after staff found Clare Nowland armed with a knife.

It's understood police used their Tasers after struggling to disarm the 95-year-old.

The great-grandmother was transported to Cooma Base Hospital where she is fighting for her life.

Police are investigating the incident.

It is understood Nowland is well-known in the community.
