Driver arrested after allegedly taking off from breath test in Melbourne

A 76-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly drove off from a drug and alcohol breath testing site in Melbourne's south-east overnight.

Police said the man initially pulled into a Ferntree Gully Road site in Wheelers Hill about 8.30pm and did a preliminary breath test, before taking off.

Officers had to move out of the day to avoid the man, who was driving a Toyota HiAce van, with suspected V8 engine modification.
