Winemaker Michael Dal Zotto says prosecco has “definitely come a long way” since his family became the first to grow it in Australia back in 1999.

Prosecco is Italy’s most popular sparkling wine, with global sales soaring from 150 million bottles in 2008 to 600 million in 2019.

“It’s pretty exciting to be part of something that’s succeeding the way it is,” Mr Dal Zotto told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.

“Prosecco has definitely come a long way since we first planted it in 1999 in the King Valley, creating a little bit of Australian winemaking history and then releasing Australia’s first prosecco in 2004.”
