Australian tourist found dead after going missing in Kazakhstan

An Australian tourist who was missing for three days in Kazakhstan has been found dead, according to local authorities.

In a social media post, a local volunteer rescue group for Almaty, the largest city in the Central Asian nation, said it had found the body of 27-year-old Jake Michael Herd on Tuesday.

Herd had last been seen on Sunday, according to local media reports, when he left his hostel to hike around Big Almaty Lake in the Tian Shan mountain ranges.

A volunteer rescue group post saying the body of an Australian tourist had been found in Kazakhstan.

His body was reportedly found near the Ayusai River Gorge, at an altitude of around 2800 metres.
